Upgrade My CPU

I have the HP DV7-6C21NR. Every so often it will freeze for a few seconds. Is there a fix for this ? Some sort of patch or upgrade.

I also would like to know how much of an upgrade I can make to my current CPU ? At the present time I have an i7 1.60GHz

There is no way to know what can fix the pause without full details about when exactly it happens and what program is is freezing in.

What exactly is the model of CPU in the system? It's not likely you can upgrade it, laptops are not designed for upgrades and even if the CPU is removable the system may not work with another one due to motherboard and BIOS restrictions.
