Upgrading Alienware 17

I have an Alienware 17 laptop from 2013. I want to use the HTC Vive but my GPU isn't good enough. I have the Nvidia GTX 860m and I want to upgrade it to a GTX 1080. Is that possible? If not, what else could I do?

For a laptop? No.

I dont even know if that supports the external GPU dock. It might be time for a desktop!

depend, if it mxm, it can be upgrade. not sure about going 2 gen up though.
and the laptop bios need to support it too.
