Hi All

My laptop is Acer Aspire 4920G.

It came with WD2500BEVS (Western digital 250 GB Sata, 5400 RPM, 8 MB cache).

I would like to upgrade it to WD7500BPKT (Western Digital 750GB , 7200 RPM, 16MB cache).

I'm worried if my laptop can take this new capacity HDD.

Other than that I'm also worried if this new HDD will generate more heat than the one I am currently using the WD2500BEVS and spoil my entire laptop.

Please advice if I can upgrade to this new HDD which has a higher capacity and faster RPM into my laptop.

If this is not a suitable model could you please sugest me a highest capcacity model and with higher RPM and cache?

Have anyone of you come across such a situation before?

I'm asking this because different forums give different views.

Some say that a high capacity HDD will run on a laptop and a 7200 RPM disk will increase the performance.

Others say that the disk capacity might not be recognized by the BIOS and a faster HDD will over heat and spoil the laptop.

Your advice on this issue will be much appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Hi wanamingo

Thanks for the reply. Will using a cooling pad help me overcome this heating issue and how helpful will it be?
