I was given an HP Pavilion iCore 3 6100U by a friend that bought a new laptop....
It is noticeably slow booting up. That is why he was unhappy with the Pavilion. I am convinced it can be sped up a bit with an SSD and RAM upgrade.
I am getting conflicting information on the Maximum Supported Ram for this machine....I have it apart and, the motherboard is DAG31AMB6D0 Rev D.
From what I have been able to find, it seems that the board and the processor will support 32gb of RAM.....there is 8gb installed. I ordered another 8 gb stick from Amazon. I ordered the exact same brand, type, etc. that is in the machine..
I don't think I need 32GB but, I am wanting to know that the Motherboard/CPU will support the 16GB.

I will install Windows 10 Home 64 Bit

Yes, I would think it can support 2x16GB of compatible memory.

Use the actual model number to search for memory at Crucial's site.

Thank you for the quick reply.....the 8GB memory stick that is in the machine at this time is Samsung.....I am running some "model train software" and will be casually surfing the internet....I am going to give the 16GB a run and see how it does....I may go for the 32GB if it speeds things up but, I am not putting any demands on this machine....pretty much "everyday" usage....I want it to boot up faster and give it a chance to execute any programs faster....I actually think the new 1TB SSD and the 16GB of RAM will do the trick

Agreed. 16GB and the SSD should be enough for your stated needs. You always have the future option to increase to 32GB.

Should I go ahead and install the 32GB if the machine supports it? I mean, if 16GB is enough, will it still be even better with 32GB or will I notice any difference?

This is the 8GB stick that is in the machine at this time....I have another 8GB stick ordered..

Samsung DDR4-2133 8GB/512Mx64 CL15 Laptop Memory M471A1G43DB0-CPB

I need some help determining the 16GB stick I should order. My HP Notebook is missing the label with the Model #/Serial #.....I only have the motherboard number and, of course, the identifier for the 8GB stick that is installed....
