Hi there,
I've been reading up on Lenovo's dual graphics capabilities as my laptop has a sticker advertising this feature on it. The more I learn the more confused I become.
I have been looking to enhance my laptop's performance and have around £400 max to spend.
I am looking to run modded skyrim on med-high and play Shadow of Mordor more solidly, I also like to edit videos and produce music.
My laptop is a lenovo G505s and here are the specs:
CPU: AMD A10 5750m APU
My knowledge is that this is a CPU with some of the features of a GPU and behaves like one in many respects. Can I replace this with a faster CPU, and is this CPU good enough for 1366 x 768 AAA games?
RAM:
I have 8gb DDR3 RAM 1600 , 0.8gb of which is taken by OS. I want to upgrade to more and possibly a better type of RAM, but I'm not sure if this is possible.
GPU:
I KNOW for sure that I can have a GPU, as that is what 'Dual Graphics' means, but which one can and should I buy? Which ones fit?
I am looking at the AMD Radeon HD 8750m card, but would like a better one if possible.
Overheating is not an issue as I have a great cooling pad.
With this advice, I intend to get a laptop repair company to do the upgrade for me.
Please don't just say 'get a new laptop', I can't afford it. Buying a great gaming laptop is going to cost me £800, but pimping out my current laptop should be considerably cheaper.
Or 'a desktop is so much better'. I don't really care, and I'm not here to compare specs.
Regards, Charlie. Thanks for any help.
BONUS QUESTIONS:
If I got a new Graphics Card, would it Crossfire with the iGPU or render it obsolete?
What motherboard does my laptop use?
Does Hard Drive make an impact on performance?
