Usb device not reconized on a dell inspiron laptop

usp device not reconized on my laptop. it is a portable mouse, but if i plug it in my desktop it works. there a reset of some sort on a laptop. when i plug in iphone nothing happens either, thanks

Check you BIOS. If everything is ok there, head to support.dell.com, put in your service number off the bottom and then download updated drivers.
