USB mouse not working

My mouse is not working for some reason. I plugged it in and its lights turned on for a few seconds and then off, while the lights were on the cursor couldn't be moved either. I tried to use another mouse and it didn't work either and the previous mouse worked on another PC so I think it's because of the laptop itself. I also tried to use other ports but that didn't work and my cooling pad which connects to my laptop in order for it to work runs fine when plugged in with the port which I usually use to plug my mouse in. Can someone provide me with a solution to fix this?
My specs:
- Intel Core i7-7700HQ
- 8 GB of RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti + Intel(R) HD Graphics 630
- Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Update: I tried to update the BIOS and the mouse did work while this was being displayed:

Since you're on Windows 10, try and see if a repair install irons out the issue. Are you on the latest BIOS update?

I think it is the latest update. I reinstalled Windows and it fixed the problem, thank you very much. You're a legend man.

I had the same problem (but didnt work while I updated my lenovo either) so I tried uninstalling the drivers of the mouse and the usb ports but didn't work either, so after multiple ineffective tries, I went to microsoft online help and talked with an employee, who accessed my computer remotely and fixed it. She told me it's a last windows update bug.

been seeing this on mu customers' computers: laptops & desktops, Windows 10 & 7 32 bit.

Re-install the manufacturer's chipset patch. This overwrites the microcode installed by MS to resolve the security issue with reading cached passwords etc. Worked on both Win7 & 10 for me.

hi did she manage to tell u which win update it was? I m having the same problem. it worked on monday...then stopped on tuesday, i changed mouse and turned off pc as i left work. this morning same nonsense.

My mouse stopped yesterday for no reason too. I have tested it on my laptop and it worked, but now i try it and nothing happens. After reinstall my windows 10, it works finally but after 30 minutes it stopped again. I don't know what to do now, pls help me

The devices center says that have a "driver error" but i cant fix it.
It seems like a windows update bug or something like.
