Use TriDef 3D With Oculus Rift

TriDef 3D is an application for the Oculus Rift that is used to convert files multimedia and game files. It is currently the best app out there for converting non-Rift compatible files into compatible ones. It’s still in its beta stage for the DK2 version of the Rift but any kinks are being ironed out. You can download a 14 day free trial of TriDef here.

Step 1: Open your game within the TriDef app. If you game does not show up on the list you can add it yourself. Open and start the game, then find somewhere you can idle within the game without consequence.

Step 2: Open up your settings and fool around with the mouse sensitivity until it is to your liking. You should also adjust the fov so that it’s as big as it can get –this will prevent things from going off-screen.

Step 3: Continue to adjust your settings as necessary, fiddling with the yaw and pitch as well as the depth level in the 3D settings, until everything is to your liking. Switch back and forth from your settings screen to your game that way you have a sense of what things do as you go along.

Step 4: A common problem that people have is not being able to use their mouse on the entire screen. If this happens to you, change your resolution to 1200x800.

Recap: The TriDef 3D app for the Oculus Rift is still undergoing development, but with some adjustments on your part you can make it work for you. The free trial option is a particularly good idea if you want to use it while it’s still in its beta phase.
