Using A Old Panasonic Toughbook cf-25 Metal Frame for an upgraded laptop?

I have an old Panasonic tough book cf-25 laptop. There is a 50/50 chance that it will work the way it is but I have ordered a power adapter for it (not a sad loss if it doesnt work).

I was wondering if I could upgrade the hardware( overhaul everything and software up to win 7.) and where I could start. If there was a way to find a small motherboard to fit in the shell and a new monitor. It wouldnt need to fit any ports as it would just be a small permeant desktop and stationary...

I was just wondering where to start and what to look at to see if any motherboards would fit, how the power supplies work and how they all connect...

Typically, a laptop case will only accommodate the specific motherboards and components designed for them (proprietary). While it sounds like a cool project, the outcome is poor at best.

Rather, you may want to consider a "whitebox" laptop that you can customize as desired. Check here for some possibilities:
