using headphones with TV's

Im looking to buy a new HDTV and most of them don't have headphone jacks, a feature that is a must for me. Is there any sort of simple adapter that I can buy or any other simple solution? Or am i screwed?

Unfortunately, because any potential adapter(e.g. hdmi to a/v) plugged into the TV would be recognized as an input device I doubt an adapter would work. What devices are you planning to use with your TV? Perhaps an audio solution could be found elsewhere.

Im going to be sitting about 5 feet away at all times, i have a pair of headphones that extend that far
