Using laptop as tv monitor

So i have an alienware m17x r4 which has an hdmi imput and i want to watch tv on it in my room. so i found an adapter for coax to hdmi but then i realised i cant change the channel. Is there anyway to change the channel from my computer

agreed and it is an output,

USB 2.0 tv tuners are available everywhere for 20-25 dollars so get on it.

Its and m17x r4 google it. It has output on the left side and input on the right side.
