Solved! Vegas Video Editor Finished Renders Not Playing In Any Media Player

I was trying to do some subtitle creation practice and went to render my video. Every player I attempted to open the finished mp4 file with did not work. for VLC:
Your input can't be opened:

VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file//EVegas%20Finished/7%20days%20to%20die%206.mp4'. Check the log for details.

for windows media player:0xc10100be

I have tried:

checking the render settings. they are the same that I have previously used without issue
checking the file path. it is the same I always used
updated all drivers and graphics card software
disabling antivirus and firewall settings
checking file ownership permissions were set correctly
clicking other known successfully finished renders to make sure they still work (they do)
reinstalling vegas
removing subtitle SRT file from the folder
I am at a loss for what else to try and what could have changed but as of right now I can fully run through the render process in vegas as normal, but when I click on the video it does not play at all


upon checking the finished render it is made up of 0 bytes. so for whatever reason it seems to be an empty file instead of a finished video




EDIT PROBLEM SOLVED:
select render setting preference
customize template
change encode mode from nv encoder to mainconcept avc
