Also fooled around with it and tried some of the above recommendations..

I tried with virtualdub software and the asus vid card live vid capture...

my frame rate drops were 298 captured 274 dropped with virtual

and 274 captured and 1503 dropped in same time period of 45 secs

That was at resolutions for the avi above 325x240 and capture rate of 30-50 fps.

when i dropped the avi resol to 325x240 and capture rate to 15fps, no dropped frames.

questions... isn't the higher resolution preferred for better quality?

If so, then how do you go about getting it to capture at the higher resolution?

Why must the capture rate be so low? I would thing the faster the capture rate the less frames dropped and also the better the quality. It was only using 40% of cpu and I had all progs in the back shut down.

Is it possible to capture at higher resolutions and how?

Still no sound going up..how to do that? using svideo cable...thanks...t

I've got a ATI AIW Radeon and a 1.3G CPU. It does a little better then yours but the problem is that our cards are toys. They do the compression in software. I think you would have better luck with a video editing card like a Dazzle board. They run around $250.00 and have hardware compression. Course I ain't got one so I can't say for sure. Good luck!

Hey if you buy one let us know what you think.

Remember if you ain't Muslim you ain't Shiite.

Well, like lakedude -- with software cards you need a good system -- lots of processor power and raided drives - buy that time you may as well just buy a better capture card but if you don't have a good HD setup you may still drop frames.
Good luck.

A raid will not help this integrated cards. Data rate is a problem when you use a high end capture card that capture in full PAL/NTSC resolution and with less compression. The more compression you use the smaller the data rate and the less you need this raid.

If you are into video editing make a statment to yourself about how much you are willing to shell for a real card and start looking for the best option. If you have a MiniDV or Digital8 camera you can capture full resolution using a 25$ fire wire card. People are doing it with 500Mhz powerd computers and single drive. If not start looking for more expencive cards.
