Solved! Virus on my daughters laptop

My x-wife tells me that our daughters computers will not work anymore that there is some virus on it and wants me to fix it.

So I used a program called spotmau to scan the hard drive for deleted files and I found over 30,000 imagines of porn that had been deleted from the history folder and other places. Once I saw this I decided to just slick the drive and start over.

Well I did and now it will not recognize that there is even a hard drive in the computer. I have tried 3 other hard drives and again with the same message. I have tried using windows seven and XP. They all tell me the same thing.

So is it possible that the virus made its way into the bios ? If so what can I do?

I have heard that you can reset the bios by taking out the cmos battery but when I open the bottom panel the battery is not visible. Really did not want open the case, things seem to never go back the way they are suppose to when I do things like that, lol.

The laptop is a dell model number PP29L & the service tag is 7p4syg1

What is the message? Is it something similar to "no operating system present?" If so, go into the BIOS and ensure that the boot order is correct for starters. If that doesn't work, report back to us and we'll see what else we can come up with short of "surgery."

No when I boot from my windows disk xp it goes through the whole process of loading all thr drivers and then it goes to the first part of the setup where it says hit enter to intall new operating system or "R" for repair etc... and no matter what I hit the next screen tells me no hard drive found.

When I boot from windows seven it tells me there was an error installing reboot and the system will reload ok.

So confused, lol......

Well, it makes me feel a little confused as I want to provide the necessary help. What is the same message? The most commonly known BIOS viruses are those that create warning messages that say the computer is infected by a virus. They are capable of infecting the BIOS are not designed to shut machines down completely.
For the BIOS viruses, it is necessary to do the following :
1.Back up Data and Create a Boot Disk.
2.Reconfigure the BIOS and Reinstall the OS.

you can flash your bios but make sure you know what you're doing.
