Solved! Vista os

I have a HP laptop running MS Vista, since i didn't recieve a hard copy of the os i wanted to make a copy, the problem i have now is that i can't locate the file containing the os, it's not labeledMSVista or any other name that i would recognize, could some one help me identify the file containing the os? Thx.

An OS is not one file. It's hundreds of thousands of them. And you can't just copy what's on your hard disk, either.

If you want to have a copy that you can reinstall from, torrent an OEM version of windows vista.
