- make sure you're running genuine, virus-free installation;
- Upgrade your XP installation (why one would use XP is another question) to latest service packs;
- make sure your install media is error-free. You might try copying the contents of VS2008 disk to a local folder, and start setup.exe from there;
- try to install some of prerequisites manually;

i Love to use windows XP due to its speed
secondly i don't like seven due to its slower performance on my pc
And i tried this set up on i3 and ahtlon x2 270 works fine
Whats the problem then
