Ok so I know vpns protect you on public wifi, but the wifi at my campus requires you to login to use it. They also block any p2p connections even for gaming, so can i use a vpn to hide my usage data or will they still be able to track it because i have to login?

Solution
If they are trying to block it then yes.
Any higher end router can spot the network behavior of bittorrent or other p2p software.

There are even some residential grade routers with a "block torrent" check box.
No, they most likely have a proxy onsite so while your origin is masked from outside users, all traffic will pass through their proxy regardless.

It all comes down to the particular setup, but irregardless it is agianst forum rules to help you to circumvent security measures (remember many of us here are the admins that setup said security measures).
