When I play a movie that is in surround, my speakers work, but can i have all speakers work when the signal is not in surround?

Solution
Then your audio processor needs a thing called SIMULATED SURROUND.

In an honest-to-God AV Receiver, you switch to Dolby Plus, Dolby Prologic, Stereo Front+Rear, Stadium Mode, Concert Hall, others with similar names will take stereo audio signal and play on all your 5.1.

In an PC well... I notice my Mobo built-in Realtek ALC1150, the settings are anemic, I don't think it has any surround simulated modes.

Reason I said "Honest-to-God AV Receiver."
Hi there

What type of speakers are you using now? Though, I know of no way to get surround sound out of two speakers in a home theater setup.

You need a signal for each speaker I the setup you want. I would look for a used set of surround sound system. I found mind in a pondshop.

I have 7.1 speakers that work when I play a movie that is in surround sound, but when I play something that is not in surround I get sound out of two speakers and the sub. I am trying to get sound out of all my speakers when the signal is not in surround. I am using realtek.

Awesome... I am using Realtek and in the audio manager under sound effects, I found options for concert hall and many others. They are all so different in how they sound and I will have to play around with it, but I now have sound in all of my speakers. I wonder if I will need to turn off the sound effect when I am playing a true surround sound movie. Thank you for the help.
