Hi, i would like to know if it's possible to watch TV on my laptop without any TV... i mean.. just the TV Cable .. is this possible ? If its possible.. can u explain me how and what i need to do that please.. Thank you! :)

Yes, it is very possible. You will have to be willing to spend some money (as you may have already anticipated) but aside from that its fairly easy. You have two choices for a Laptop:

1. Buy an internal TV tuner card (fits in an avaliable card slot)

2. Buy an external TV tuner unit (usually USB, but then again what isn't these days)

There are a variety of places where you could get either one and every unit will have different features or options (i.e. remote control, additional video inputs, etc). I do not have any knowledge to recommend a particular unit/company when it comes to these things, but perhaps another poster will soon enough. If you buy a TV tuner card, then the software/unit will be able to 'change channels' like a normal TV vs. standard video inputs which will only display a signal coming in.

Also just to clarify: "just the TV Cable" - I am assuming that by this statement you mean a coax cable (thick black cable, single bare wire coming out the middle at the end and a metal screw-tight end).

EDIT: here are two examples, one of each kind that you could invest in

Internal unit: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=327600

Good luck!

Hiya,

I was wondering the same thing but then I came across this American company. You download their software for $29 and then you get 12000 channels for free. These channles are from all round the world.

I travel alot so it was great for me cause I can get BBC1 in my hotel room from anywhere in the world. The other brilliant thing is that you can get all the latest movies also. All you need is a computer, intetrent connection and there software!!

I looked at lots of other companies and they were charging much more and you needed other stuff

I am really please with it.

If you use a Mac there is a way, I used to do this when I didn't have a tv and I used to record shows as well. It is called Eyetv. However, I'm not sure about a PC.
Here is the link for the company; http://www.elgato.com/

Good luck

Natalie, Would you kindly share the name of the company and perhaps a link?
Than You Jacques. The link with your message is for Pay Dot.
