So the author thinks we should applaud Spotify for being open about collecting a ton of information that isn't needed for the service they provide just because others collect a ton of info as well? Maybe instead we should all be boycotting these services until they get their heads out of their arses and stop violating everyone's privacy in the name of a quick buck; sadly we appear to be a planet of sheep now who blindly click ok as quickly as we can to get to the new shiny shiny.

My point is that Spotify is being more honest than other app services about this, and yet it's being condemned for its candor. To see what I mean, look up the permissions that the Facebook, Twitter, Uber, Fruit Ninja and Despicable Me apps demand.
