Web app domain naming

Hello,

The company I work for is rebuilding a dos program into a web app and I was wondering what address they should assign to it so employees can access it. I was thinking:

appname.company.com

suggestions?

Usually it's www.company.com/appname but either way works. Most people are more comfortable with the domain name as it is and the secondary sites after that.

If you have control over DNS, I would make it accept just http/appname and resolve / rewrite it.
