I downloaded this for a play with it but found that when I want to add
contacts using the msn messenger service it won't let me, saying the "name
was not found." I know these contacts exist cos one of them was my alterego
;-) and she was online at the time so it wasn't that it only allows you to
add online contacts or summat odd like that.

Any ideas ?

Thank you for the mention of Skype.

I went to their webpage and downloaded the program.

Are there any idiosyncracies or hints and tips you might give a user?

I await only to see the introductory price of the XDA s before purchasing
that or it's current edition as either will suffice for me.

BTW thanks to everyone for their feedback and help on all subjects. It has
been invaluable in helping me decide if I can justify a PPC, what they're
capable of and whether, should I hit trouble, I will be able to overcome it.
I save the lot.

David

Does your camera work? I've got iPAQ rx4715 with built-in camera. Portrait
doesn't support mine and even worse. After I installed it, my normal
camera functions failed with unable to find executable file.

Does Skype support camera? When I was on their website I thought it's
audio only?

You can test this on your local LAN if a desktop PC has web cam. Just call the IP of the desktop PC
or vice versa. It, ie. video from a desktop PC, works pretty well...

I also don't have a web cam for my iPAQ...

I don't have one for my desktop either (I don't have one set up as such,
anyway, but now you come to mention it I do have a usb tv device and an old
Philips video camera that I have used at a pinch on the past - now where's
that s video composite cable ?!) What I wanted to do was connect via msn
messenger service as it says I can in Portrait and view my msn contacts
webcams. It won't let me add the contacts in blahblah@hotsnail.com format
(even though ti clearly states nit eh "idiot pointer" hint below that this
is the format it requires )- tells me "the name is not found".

Anyone have any ideas on this ?
