On my desktop background, a faint picture of a website I opened and closed before shows up. It wont go away even when i restart the computer.

Solution
plug the laptop into a monitor...if the image is still there run malware and anti virus for the mac. if it shows the last page of the web it may be the browser or it could be video driver or chipset issue.
if it was a prank web site did it change the windows desktop image to the web page photo?? right click on the desktop and under windows 7/8 click on personalize and look to see what the desktop image was set. if it was a virus or malware use malware bytes and hitman pro see if it can find and remove it. also use msconfig look under the startup tab see what loaded. a lot of virus will load a fake program that launches from startup. also look under add/remove programs for programs that were installed when the issue started.

Is this what you (or someone else pranking you) previously did?

Open Safari
Navigate to the web page you want to show up on your desktop
Select Open in Dashboard… from Safari's File Menu.
The cursor changes to a white box. Move this white box over the area of the page you want to create a widget from. Click to select the area.
Click the Add button top right of screen
