Websites resolve sometimes, at other times won't resolve at all

I've had this problem i'd say about the past six months now and it's really starting to get to me now.

I'm having an issue and i'm wondering if it's related to my router. On both my desktop(wired) and my wifes laptop (wireless) there are times where i'll go to a website and it's like the connection just drops. It will sit saying finding server until it either times out or you hit reload and then it will pop up almost instantaneously. It only effects websites and doesn't physically drop the connection. If i'm playing a game for instance I see no random drops while playing or any lag issues.

I've tried powercycling the router, dropping the /release /renew ip address, and /flush dns. All of which do not help the problem.

Both systems are running Windows 7, the desktop used to run vista
both connected directly to the modem.
no anti virus/firewall programs
no recent changes made to either
happens on chrome and firefox both on both machines

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

May try this tomorrow when I get some time to mess around with it, also testing around with it right now. I think it's doing the same thing if I put the ip address directly into the browser or if I use a domain name to resolve it.
