Weird problem

Here's one I just can't figure out:
I have 5 RTV units and have used them all to TRY to record Smallville
(don't laugh, I'm just an old Superman fan). For some unknown reason I
cannot record more than a minute or two the program. The recording just
starts and then stops a minute or two later. No other program causes
this problem.
Reception of the station is perfect over cable and FWIW, the station is
on channel 5.
My recording options are set up correctly and the show airs at the
proper time as per the schedule.
Has anyone experienced this or any ideas on how to fix this?
I haven't called RTV yet on this but I plan to when I have some time to
sit on hold in India.

I always get it. The "upcoming recordings" list in DVArchive helps for
avoiding conflicts.

How are you telling the Replay to record Smallville?

When it stops, it the Replay recording something else instead? Play
that other recording to verify that it isn't Smallville.

Do you record anything else from that channel? How about trying some
show?

Also, can you watch Smallville while it's recording, to see what
happens?

There's always the possability of a cat on the remote, although it's
strange that it would happen every time.

I use a theme channel that records Smallville at any time, and on any
channel. This is taking advantage of the features of the Replay, and
it might help you. This didn't rewquire any changes when WB started
showing 2 episodes together. I seldom use anything other than theme
channels except for 1-time things.

Well.... I do not yet have my Replay set up to stream but if you want I
can mail you a DVD full of MPG files every month or so... Will cost
though. I've a couple Smallville eps set to record in a few minutes,
and the new series starts next week (or is it the 2nd one tonight)

Yea,,,, I'm an old Superman/Superboy fan myself... Long story. Most of
it is told in the song Wind from Rainbows End by Bill Roper (Do a web
search) Bill and I have similar lives it seems, (he is a friend)

Superman was one of the "New books to read" Taught me that reading is
FUN-Demental (And much of the reading I do still, 40+ years later) is
still "DEMENTAL" (and for sure it's FUN)

I'll try the theme channel method and see what happens.
My setup for the recording is exactly the same as for any other show.
There are no conflicts, nothing recorded in its place and no cats - two
or four legged touching the remotes.
Same problem on all 5 machines.
Yes, I can record other shows from that channel.
I have not tried watching while I record it because I'm generally not
available to do that but it would be interesting to see what happens.

All ideas welcome!
