I am 4th now, will not be long until I take Lonemaggis spot. But the top two positions will take some time to knock off

I'm 47th... no wonder you're that high with 35 devices.
I only have 4 working... with 2 devices running every day.

My PC eats so much money that I'm in 'desperate' need of it to buy PC3500 RAM, help Svol with his OC project!

I have installed the program 35 times over the year and UD count each download and install as 1 device so they can keep track of them which means I cannot delete the ones no longer in use.
I only have 3 or sometimes 4 Pc's running UD with probably 2 days processing time total between them in one day, one PC is on 24/7 and the others are on in daylight hours only. So effectively two pcs are keeping the house warm  .

I guess I have a bit of an unfair advantage over the rest of you guys. I've got quite a number of PC's running at the office 24/7, but not 46 (as the stats show), that's the same thing as yourself, I've installed it that many times, but I've got about 10 running 24/7.
This is what I currently have running.
3 P4's @1.7Ghz
2 PIII @933
3 PIII @850
2 PII @300
I'm lnaranjo on the UD member stats.
The #2 guy used to turn out a whole lot more per day, but I don't know what happened to him, because a while back, his output of results returned per day went way down (probably got in trouble or something at the office), and that's when I was able to take over, otherwise, I'd still be in 2nd.

Oops, just checked and the #2 guy has been overtaken in results. It used to be www.paceblade.com. That's who I meant.

So how many points are you scoring per day?

The best I did was 3500 in a day and I seem to average around 2000 a day at the moment although that is not reflected in my bio info. I f I run all the pc's 24/7 I possibly could average 3500 a day.

Man, I'm already happy if I can turn in a results each day. And with the enormous current protein it takes forever.

Hey, just keep it running 24/7 as much as you can and you will find yaself in the top 20 in no time. Just moving up from there takes extra machines. Nothin like a bit of competition to stir em up.

I was looking at the stats, and the best I've done was:
10/10/2002 0:013:04:36:37 3,700 21
So I'm not that much higher than you, 3700. Then again, I recently added 2 P4 @1.7. I don't think I can get it up to that again, these new protiens, the LIGANDFIT stuff is quite slow.
When I scored 3700, with fewer PC's running, I was turning in 15 - 20 results per day, but now it's around 6 or 7 per day with more PC's (and more powerfull too). In recent days, the highest I've been able to score is:
12/14/2002 0:013:14:33:28 3,544 10
But I'm averaging about the same as you, between 1700-2300 per day, I guess is just depends on the protiens from what I can tell, because none of the machines are ever shut down.

Have you seen the #1 guy in the whole UD deal. Dave_NCL, he's got over 1000 device installations and averages in the stats over 1000 results per day(but currently with the new protiens, it's only 200, 4 times more than our whole team). Now he can definitely look down on everyone else, he's scored over 140,000 points per day and totals over 85 million points and 624,000 results.

That doesnt matter. Just go crunch some molecules.

Here are some interesting things ive found with UD:

1. Memory bandwidth matters, but only to a point. e.g. 150fsb SDRAM i found gave better performance than 133FSB sdram with the same CPU Mhz. But once i swapped to DDR on a KT-333 board there was no performance increase. 133fsb/133ram, 133fsb/166ram and 166fsb/166ram all gave the same results. Thus DDR fully satisfies the bandwidth requirements, at elast up to 1833mhz cpu speed.

2. Ive also noticed people complaining that the latest ligand fit takes alot longer on their P4.
Working in the field of molecular simulation & computation i know for a fact that detailed molecular interaction calculations are very FPU hungry, thus the AMD cpu's perform better with ligandfit.

3. some games are nice and let UD run in the background. play those games and you will find that UD still runs acceptably in the background.

Yeah... with Age of Mythology UD can run but doesn't get time to calculate. But with Quake3 based games UD will continue calculating without performance loss.
