What do I do before disassembling a laptop?

I want to disassemble a laptop. What dangers should I be aware of? How can I be most careful?

Simple. Take good photos as you progress and label All of screws where they came from. It may seem tedious but it will make getting it back together much easier. Good luck!

Before disassemble, take the battery out and hold the power button down for 10 seconds. I normally press the power button a few times just to make sure all the power has been drained from the system.

Remove battery, separate bins for screws, good documentation/photos of what you took apart from where.
If you can find one then get a disassembly manual for your laptop.

You will for sure need a set of precession screwdrivers (at minimum both sizes of Philips, and the smallest flat head. A pair of tweezers and a plastic spudger is also advised. You will need to take care when removing and reinserting the ribbon cables so that you do not break the plastic clip that holds it in place.
