Would it be good for day to day tasks and for traveling? And, how long does an i3 usually last?

What do you mean about how long they last? Before it breaks or battery life? Both depend on many factors, there is no single answer. The expected lifetime of it working is especially impossible to say, it "should" work for many years, but it "can" break in 2 days.

The speed of the laptop will be fine for non-gaming use.
