What does the emergency call button do? Can you call it to unlock your phone

I can't remember the pattern, and I was wondering if I should use the emergency call? Mine does not say next, it says try again and hit ok what should I do?

No. Do not use that. That will call 911. The "Emergency Call Button" is so anyone can use the phone to call 911, even if it is locked. Which makes sense, as if you locked your phone, but collapsed, you would still want someone to be able to use it to call for help.
