What is the advantage of rendering in higher bitrates?

Title says it all, well when I upload videos on youtube they are like 5% blurrier then the original render and I did read on the internetz that a higher bitrate will make the video as sharp as the original render. I would like to know if it makes the uplaodes better quality, and I want to know in general what is the advantage of a higher bitrate, any help is welcome
