a) Your links not loading.
b) If your referring to the study that took in my eyes a small sample of laptops and measured the rate of defects during and after a 3 year period, that study's been proven inconclusive a while ago because of the small sample.

Saraleew. I also have the exact same problems with my current Toshiba (which I've had for 5 years now - feels like centuries though). I am ready to bin it!!!

I'm now looking for a new computer myself, which led me to this forum.

Thanks to everyone's comments.

Having read this thread thoroughly, I will summarize.

1. Dell is paying people to post here in their favor because 1 favorable comment and 5 unfavorable reactions is good for Dell.

2. All laptops are made by the same people and are therefore all the same.

3. All laptops are better if they are made by company X Y or Z. Companys A B C and Dell all suck.

This does back up some of the opinions though:

It must be right, it's science.

to choose which is the best would be really difficult because every person has different needs..
there are some laptops that are faster than others but all devices have their own flaws...

try to check this link below so you would have a idea on the top 10 laptops according to reviews

top 10 laptops

I had a toshiba about 3 yrs old and it had the same problem like you described. It shut down by itself, I turned on, it stayed on for a min or less, then it turned off by itself again. I also have problem with its ac adapter, sometimes it has the battery recharged, other time it has not. I google on which laptop I should buy and came across this forum.

All fingers are not equal like as all laptops are not equal,,,,,,, i am also having toshiba laptop,,about 2yrs ago i bought this. and since then i have found no problem.
toshiba is leading brand related to innovations
also it won 4 prize in 2010 laptop brand competition also

Toshiba
emphasizes on delivering compelling industrial designs and innovative features at affordable prices make this brand one of our favorites.

and it provides nice customer and technical support with no complaints.

so dont try to come on the decision that if ur toshiba laptop is not working brand is weak in making laptops,

acc. to me
top ranking of brand is :
1. APPLE
2. SONY
3. TOSHIBA
4. HP
5. DELL etc.

mac.. just get a mac i've had dells, hps, sony vaios and always have to be running antivirus and getting them cleaned out. i have had my mac for 4 years no antivirus never had any problems have done anything to it since i bought it. I had limewire on it i used logic pro playing plenty of video games and i dj so i have like 5000 songs macs are really the best for just an everyday laptop

As a "former" Dell computer owner. With complete truth to my statement. My Dell was terrible. Within the first month i had several issues with it. As it was warrantied i called Dell, after several phone calls, bios tests etc, it was determined that i had a "faulty" (as they put it) Motherboard. Dell promptly replaced the motherboard, and i went on my way. Within the next year suddenly my hard drive fails, (at the time naturally i didn't have it backed up, and lost everything.) Dell sent me a new hard drive (i had to install myself with little computer knowledge. Not good from a customer service standpoint). My Dell then began to have problems with the hinges (which eventually broke) and the list went on. Finally my warranty i had extended for 4 years had expired, and i was left with a Dell paperweight. All in all my Dell went through 1 hard drive, 3 fans, 1 motherboard, screen pixels, and the hinges. Also if you find it hard to understand people that have strong accents, watch out, cause Dell's tech support is located in Bangalore, India. Although many spoke English well, the odd time i had to hang up on a few of their representatives due to communication issues.

Can this topic be closed already, honestly it has zero merit besides like 3 posts from people who know what they are talking about. The rest are just idiots who can't stop quoting a post that was written 2 years ago...

First off, i am not an idiot. To insult me for quoting a post (which in my opinion does have merit) is childish. I believe consumers should know about certain products to be aware of, so they in turn do not have the same experiences i, and many others have endured. I was simply describing the experience i have had with Dell.

Lose the attitude. :sol:

first off, I am not an idiot
- this statement is totally subjective.

In sum, wasn't insulting you personally, there's about 10 other posters in this thread that did the same exact thing...

Lose the attitude
I will lose it once the general public stops assuming that 1 pc unit equals the performance of the company as whole, until then.. :sol:

A quote from you:

"it has zero merit besides like 3 posts from people who know what they are talking about. THE REST are just idiots who can't stop quoting a post that was written 2 years ago"

Then you go on to say:

"wasn't insulting you personally, there's about 10 other posters in this thread that did the same exact thing"

So either:

A) I'm one of the people that know what they're talking about. Or
B) You just indirectly called me an idiot.

:hello:

I totally agree with you. My dell crashed 1 yr after having. And the motherboard just happened to crash right after my warranty ended. Every person that I have met that has had a dell laptop had something go wrong with it. I always say I will NEVER purchase a dell again.

I would highly recommend the Asus N-Series for good specs nice design and an awesome set of speakers :). Alot of the other people on this forum seem to think that Dell is the right choice but they are prone to over-heating constantly and crashing not long after having it. Buy Asus they have a stylish design awesome performance and can do more than everyday needs.

I have owned three Toshiba laptops over the last seven years and have never had a problem. I also still have a Acer that is nine years old. My friends own other brands and seem to have continuous problems.

Finding a laptop depends on how you will use it. Companies differ in qualities, characteristics and what their laptop can offer. I prefer hp laptops specifically dv6. i looked up Ink supplies online to get more knowledge on the things im comparing. Its a great way to learn how youll deal with the confusion
