So for a while I recorded using Fraps, (non legal way) and it was dropping my FPS about 10-15 (20-25 intesnse). Then I stared using OBS it didn't drop but maybe 5 FPS. MY question, is are the PCI(e) recorders better that the software. If anyone can recommend any recording soft/hardware that would be appreciated. I'd not like to spend more that $50 USD. But IDK as much as some people.

Haha that's okay. So what quality do you want to record at? 720p/30, 720p/60, 1080p/30, or 1080p/60?

Dxtory with Lagarith Lossless Codec will capture the first three options I'm fairly certain. You'll need a SSD, a fast HDD, or a capture card for 1080p/60.

Another option is getting a GTX 750 Ti ($110) and using NVIDIA's Shadowplay (comes with all GTX 600+ GPUs). This is a video on Shadowplay and Avermedia: http://youtu.be/tAdefhx6QS8

Shadowplay and Avermedia will be less CPU intense when compared to Dxtory and Fraps. Dxtory will capture very high quality, however I'm not sure on the impact it would have on your system.

How much do you want to spend on the GPU upgrade? You could get two uses in one GPU by getting a GTX 600+ and use Shadowplay for all your gameplay recordings. Shadowplay could get at least 720p/60 with very little impact on your performance.
