What is the differrence between adapter and a wireless lan

my laptop has a wireless lan and an adapter.pls wats the function of the adapter

A wireless adapter? I assume that you are looking in the device manager, correct? The adapter and the wireless are the same thing- they just go by different names for different system purposes.
