What is the solution if patch is increasing on computer screen

Hello,
hey i got the gateway nv series laptop, I am getting one long patch on my screen and its increasing gradualy, is there any serious problem with my system. please suggest.

Sounds like a serious problem. If possible connect the laptop to an external monitor in order to establish whether it's the video system or the screen or it's ribbon cable that are at fault.

If the problem is visible on the external monitor try updating the video driver and make sure the reolution and refresh rate are set correctly for either screen.
