What is this weird contraption?

I came across this weird gadget. It's about the size of a mouse with
a long wire with a hookup like a mouse. It has an NES controller port
along with some computer hookup port. On the other side it has three
buttons. They say reset,set and load. This gadget says "game star" on
it. What did I find at my local thrift store?????? Thanks:]

I think it's a Famiclone (pirated Famicom clone). Does it have a
battery compartment? Perhaps the "long wire with a hookup like a mouse"
is a S-Video cable.

Forgot to say this...if it has an NES controller port, then it probably
is a Famiclone where you can hook up an NES controller for two-player
games.

Look at your "hookup like a mouse"...if it has two round little holes
on each side and a square hole on top or bottom, then it most likely is
S-Video. If you have access to a VCR or TV with S-Video hookups, try
it. If you don't have a VCR or TV with S-Video, then you probably need
to go to Radio Shack and get a "S-Video to Composite" adapter.

The GameStar allows you to use most NES joy(pad/sticks) with your PC.
So long as you have a keyboard(or ps2 with adapter) port. It plugs in
between your PC and keyboard. All buttons are directly programmable
via the "SET" button. "LOAD" may also be used to program the GameStar
via a DOS program.
This device also has the advantage of being a "keyboard emulator" input
device, thus it requires no device drivers or specific support to work
with almost any game, emulator, or other program.
