I went to a store to check out new tvs and there were a couple of them that have widi. I'm not sure if I remember it right but I think the tvs are from lg. Is this like an upgraded version of wifi? Thanks.

No, it's not an upgraded version of wifi. If both your tv and laptop are wifi enabled you can share and transfer files to your tv without using HDMI or an active wifi.

I believe the tv you saw in the store is from lg. As far as I know, lg has a partnership with intel for the wireless display feature that's why their 2012 models have it. Check this:

Sounds cool. Are all new laptops with intel processor capable of this function? Also, does this mean that all lg tvs released this year have this feature?

I'm not really sure if all their laptops now are widi enabled. But there's a system requirements for widi to work. Check this:

I don't think all lg tvs come with this feature but I'm sure the tvs in their lm range have it.
