What kind of cpu chip do I need for my hp pavilion dv6 laptop it has an Amd A8 vision quad core and Radeon duel graphics card. What I would like to get is a Cpu chip that is equivalent to say a I5 and I know that an I5 is for intell but I don't have that kind of motherboard I have a AMD A8 quad core motherboard so if someone can please help me out with the problem that I am having please.

Solution
1. laptops can only upgrade "cpus" by changing the motherboard
2. you cannot upgrade a computer that was designed with AMD chip to an Intel design CPU (unless they sell both originally and you can find a intel/cpu on ebay of your laptop model...

in most cases its cheaper just to buy a new laptop.

Sorry but a laptop can not designed to switch cpus as per your need. Even your mobo has theoretical support for that cpu. For your case you have to buy a new laptop.
