Trying to find a good laptop to get, I need 16gigs of ram will upgrade to 32 gigs in the future, an i7 not any of the low power ones would love QM series and a decent video card. I do a lot of work that requires a lot of memory usage, I have a few desktops already, so I'm just looking for something that I can do my work on while out and about.

What exactly are you doing? Trading? Video editing? It's useful to know as it'll help with the finer details when selecting a laptop.

Just security work and teaching networking and a few other things. I run up to 24 vms sometimes so I'll be upgrading to 32 gigs before next year. The video card requirement is just for some specific programs that I run.

I agree - for OP's requirements, the Lenovo is the best at this price point.

You're right. I believe it's available with 16GB, can't find it right now.
This one has 16 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314704 but video card is not that impressive though, so it doesn't beat the crap anymore :D
Bigger screen on the Acer. I like Lenovo's design more.
SSD on one hand, 1TB on the other - all depends on the needs. But both are great laptops.

I'd go for the lenovo, since you aren't doing much gaming then you don't need a 4gb video card. 2gb is plenty for a card anyways, and the ssd + 16gb of ram will help more for your needs. Also my friend uses that exact laptop for school and it's great

I was aiming towards with my response buying it then doing a wipe right away and installing windows 7. But I wanted to know if it had drivers for windows 7 and not just 8
