Hello,

1. What is your budget?
I'm willing to save up a few more quid if it means getting what I want. Basically, pretend there is no ceiling to my budget, for now.

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

The size of the screen doesn't really bother me. Though, I really would prefer the screen wasn't reflective... who the hell thought that was a good idea anyway? Matt screen preferred, size doesnt matter much.

3. What screen resolution do you want?

If it's HD thats a bonus, but really, I dont actually -need- above like... 1024*768.

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

I want to be able to take it on train and coach journeys.

5. How much battery life do you need?

More the better. No less than 4 hours. Preferably MORE!

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

Being able to play fallout 3 on maximum settings would be nice, X3 reunion, Max, crysis 2, maximum. Deus ex 3, Max (is it out yet?? :) )

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

Video editting. Computer animation/special effects. (after effects, Maya, Photoshop, etc.)

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?

500 gig would be cool. a terabyte would be sweeeeet.

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

Meh.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?

I'm spending much money. At LEAST three years... five would be nice, seriously.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

DVD writer. Dont really care about much else.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

Not a fan of Dell. Just.... heard bad bad things. Anyone else, I'm open to.

13. What country do you live in?

U.K. (england)

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

I basically want a super machine.

I want it to be durable. Be able to take a few knocks and bumps without crying about it. It'll be a work laptop, and will travel a long way. Ideally it would be made of as little plastic as possible (And be light.... yeah) the screen MUST NOT be shiny... cant see crap in the sun with those stupid screen. Matt screen, yes. Also, the hinges for the screen must be made well, the whole thing should be made damn well actually, but I had some bad times with dodgy hinges snapping.

So, yeah. Monster please.

Theres a specific reason I wont get into. It's not what you think either.

I don't think a laptop you want exists.

If you don't go Nvidia, that means the only laptop that i know of with a high end Mobility Radeon is the Alienware M17x, which has a glossy screen, and has fairly mediocre battery life.

If you're willing to play games on medium/high, I'd suggest a 15" Macbook Pro, which you can customize to have a non-glossy screen.

K, thanks for the reply, I had a feeling the matte screen would screw me! What is it with those things.... why does something that literally fires light at you, need to reflect it!

Anyways....

Hows about we cut the games out, and have them as a very secondary thing.

Main points.

Matte screen.

ATI graphics.

Video production and CG.

Battery life.

In that order.

Any hints now?

Been looking at Lenovo Thinkpads. Looks like they might well be able to provide what I need. got some customisation options, look - damn - well made, seem to have matte screen options. Lookin good.

Cheers for the hints.

The Lenovos Thinkpads don't have non-Nvidia dedicated graphics cards, and the Ideapads with the Radeons dont have high-res screens. As it stands, the 15" macbook pro still seems to be the best choice for you.
