hello guys
i just bought dell inspiron 5520
im loving it right now but has a problem
idle temps of cpu are 45 C to 51 C and while playing games on it it goes upto 88 C which i think is horrible.is that normal or not?i play around 1 to 2 hours and the game is battlefield 3...what temps shuld be there while gaming?and will a notebook cooler help?

Solution
That's a really high room temp, i wouldn't worry to much. A CPU is cooled by the air around it, if that air is hot the CPU is hot.
Is it brand new or did you buy used? The idle temps are slightly high but normal. BF3 is an intense game that will get any laptop hot. Perhaps try a cooler.

yes its brand new with local warranty and the room temp is kinda HOT normally around 38 C and i have no room Air conditioner etc so idle temps are acceptable and what if i use cooler how much it will decrease the temps?i want temps always under 80's

Depending on how confident/skilled you are you can change out the thermal paste for MX-4 or similar high performance TIM.

I did that on mine and it runs 5-10degC cooler @ full load.

It may be kind of a hastle, but they do sell laptop mats that incorporate fans on them in order to cool the laptop externally. I believe some may be battery operated but most likely require a plug in, although I believe I may have seen one that allowed you to plug your laptop right into the pad which was then connected to the wall.
