What should the computer technician add or change to upgrade my old Sony Vaio laptop?

Hello everyone!

I have an old Sony Vaio laptop Model PCG-7T1L DC 19.5 V that I want to upgrade.

1. It has Windows 8 but I want to bring it down to Windows 7 because my 3g dongle is not compatible with Windows 8. This laptop used to run with XP

2. System Information:

Processor: Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2050 @ 1.60GHz
Installed Memory (RAM): 1.00 GB
System Type: 32-bit Operating System, x86-based processor
Pen and Touch: No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display

I admit, I'm not a techie when it comes to computer. I'll be bringing this laptop to a computer technician. However, I want to know first those computer parts that I need to buy for it to be upgraded.

Parts? Another 1GB stick of RAM. Or maybe 2 x 2GB sticks (if it can take 4GB), replacing the current 1GB.
Nothing else.

If he already has it apart and is changing the OS anyways, get a Samsung 840 Evo and put more RAM in.

Those two things combined will make it feel like a new computer.
