Well, first you need an OS. Either buy Windows, or use Linux. Depending on what you want it to do, of course.

Since you're asking, I'm thinking Windows.

Then, the drivers for your hardware. Starting with the LAN driver.

you will need to install all motherboard drivers (a disk containing those should come with the motherboard) after installing your OS.
