What would a good laptop be for gaming and art design programs?

I will be eventually going into a program for game and art design so I want to buy a laptop that I can practice using things like photoshop and fuse or any other better design and art programs for the computer. I am also a gamer and I want something that is powerful enough to be able to frequently do both activities (so lots of RAM I'm guessing).
I haven't had a computer for a while now so I'm at a bit of a loss on what I should get or what to look for.
I only have room for a laptop in my house unfortunately so I have to stick with that.
Any personal suggestions would be awesome!
I have been looking at the Lenovo Y50 but I'm not sure if it's primarily a gaming computer or both.

The Lenovo Y50 is a very powerful laptop that will provide performance and sustained battery life because it uses Intel's Haswell Processor. It has a fantastic graphics card suitable for both intense gaming and photoshop. It has 8GB of RAM so it can take almost anything you throw at it, if you plan on HD Video editing then this is likely not enough and you would require more RAM. I am saying that from reading other posts and am not certain. When I have done HD Video Editing the most RAM ever used was 12GB and that was when rendering the final product. Depending on how intensive video editing you do this may or may not be for you. It has a very nice full hd screen and also a 720p HD Camera. Only downside is the HDD, you may want to purchase an SSD as a secondary or boot drive to speed up usage.

Just exercise some caution with the Y50, it is known to overheat if not dusted regularly or if it's not ventilated properly.
