What's equivalent size of Thinkpad t30 or t40??

helping some friends buy laptops and they like the size and weight and
KEYBOARD!!!! of my Thinkpad T23. But they both prefer trackpads, to
the eraserhead mouse. What models should I be looking at to help them
shop. Particluarly last-year's model that might be selling cheap. ($1k
or less). Neither friend needs anything close to the latest and
greatest processor, though they would like a cd-burner inside. Thanks!

Thinkpad T40 or T41.
