Solved! What's the arrow for?

I have smart key board on my LG phone. There is a small arrow under the middle word in the word suggestion bar. What is it for?

It's call ed a caret and probably pointing to the word it suggests you use.

It actually points down toward the keyboard below the word so I thought it was some kind of pull down menu with other variations of the suggested word. I'm not much of a techie though and I figured I just wasn't smart enough to know how to open it lol. Just knowing what it's called is great info. Thanks for your help!
