When I connect my Acer laptop to a TV with an HDMI cord, the picture is shown but there is no sound. What is the problem?

The sound originally worked. Then required jiggling the cord at the laptop connection. Now whenever connected there is no sound. I have replaced the cord, same results. Have set control panel setting to HDMI default. Appears to be a hardware problem.

if it's enabled in the laptop sound ( control panel/sound......... go into the tv's menu and make sure that those speakers are enabled.

Right click speaker icon in laptop, click Playback Devices, click on the HDMI option, click Set Default.

Have to undo that when you disconnect.
