Sorry for the late reply,
When I change it nothing happens but the display on my laptop changing resolution however I did find that when asking it to extend screens it shows that on my TV I can't pick a resolution

The laptop's video driver maybe picky on what resolution its output device will support. If you are lucky sometimes the TV will come with its own driver disc.

Your TV should support the 1920x1080 resolution without problem...what laptop do you have? What happen if you try to only show the image in the TV and not duplicate the screen?

It's a Toshiba L50-C laptop and if I try and use Second screen only it doesn't work still
