When i was testing my home theater (samsung 5.1 new) with only woofer i get no s

I got a new Samsung Home theater 5.1. Before config the entire system i tried with center speaker and sub woofer as a testing. but I get noise in the subwoofer ( the song without clarity with so much disturbance) and no sound in center speaker. I dont know...I connected the subwoofer and center speaker in the correct designated plug behind the DVD/amplifier,,,...Can somebody help me what would have gone wrong?

How does the system sound with all five speakers and the subwoofer connected?
