When pressing the @ key with shift down, I get the " sign

I have a Toshiba laptop model SATELLITE L450-128. I cannot type any email addresses because the @sign is just coming up as the quotation mark "Any ideas?f

Go into your language settings. Change the keyboard type from UK English to US English.

Hi, use the "Alt Car" key on the right side of the side bar with the number 2 and you will have the @ sign.
