A lot of it depends on how you are going to use the camera. Will it be for pictures only or are video capabilities equally important?

Still suggest you read the reviews. I have no experience with either of those cameras. The image sensor size is the same on both. That said, if I had to choose I would go with the Coolpix L830 because of the focal length, number of focus points, shutter speed, and the glass (lens).
